Originally designed as a plywood version by Arne Jacobsen in 1963 for St. Catherine College in Oxford, the Oxford was introduced into the Fritz Hansen collection as an upholstered version in 1965.

Available as a high or low back. The Oxford Chair features an upholstered moulded plywood seat on a 5-star swivel base of satin polished aluminium. The low back Oxford chair is also available with arms and castors. The fixed height base is provided with ferrules of black-grey nylon, or glides of matt aluminium. All bases with height adjustment are equipped with double castors and are available with a tilt mechanism. Upholstered with Kvadrat fabrics, Hallingdal, 70% wool + 30% viscose, Tonus, 90% wool + 10% nylon and Topas, 100% worsted wool. Alternative upholstery: leather in: natural, dark natural, red, tan, black-brown, dark green, dark blue and black.
