Melbourne Gallery - Melbourne Museum

Spectrum showcases
This project was a complete refurbishment of the Melbourne Gallery, including both showcase and associated joinery supply and installation by Designcraft. This significant and demanding installation of over 40 showcases uses 7 different types of Netherfield showcases in both conventional and complex arrangements and shapes. The high levels of showcase access required by the client, and the physical size and weight of some of the key objects on display, stretched the limitations of showcase performance and design. Designcraft supplied a number of custom made showcase which compliment the Netherfield system, as well as high security timber frame replica showcases, which sit along side original 1920’s showcases. This challenging installation required a combination of ‘fabricate off-site’ and install showcases and ‘fabricate in-situ’ showcase, with particular reference to the large multi-bay, multiple access showcases.
